einstein on the beach
My project explores the complexity of music and it’s value as language, and relates it to my design practices. Using Phillip Glass’ 1975 experimental opera ‘Einstein at the Beach’ as source material, the project explores how music can be visualised through typographic and layout systems. The animation and supporting print narrate the structures and theories that are often unfamiliar to those who do not read or play music. The project presents these unknowns to the audience and reflects the notion of communication systems across music and design.
